Hi attention to music arrangers, producers, or anyone else interested…
For this year’s AIM, the Best Arrangement Award has been broken into 2 ie: Best Arrangement in a BM song & in a non-BM song!!??!! This was apparently decided by RIM due to unknown reasons. The initial judging panel for this award (incl me) has signed a petiton against it simply based on the reason that there is NO language barrier in music, let alone in a music arrangement! How does one decide if the same music arrangement is “better” if sung in BM or another language??! I don’t think there has been any precedent not even in the grammies. Pls share yr views on this & let’s see if we can try to do something abt this.

For as long as we behave this way, being preoccupied with such nonsense, the Malay word is “Latah”. It is ironic that you’ll find no (direct) English translation. How beautiful this unworthy language is for those who know not, and all I’ve said is not even relevant in this situation.

Music is a language unlike any other. So let’s say this loud and clear. God forbid, never let these dinosaur policy-makers dupe us, and take us back to “colonial rule”!! Our forefathers gave us Merdeka to rid us of this.

If these people realize what independence means, maybe they’ll “latah” less. How can we show the developed economies we are much more than copycats in stateless nations? What is the meaning of Bahasa menunjukkan bangsa?
